Year 3 Homework Expectations

In Year 3, the children are expected to read their reading book three times a week and this is to be recorded in their reading diary. Children are encouraged to use our online reading resources - Oxford Owl - and they're encouraged to visit the Library where they have many opportunities to enjoy a range of books and genres.

Children are encouraged to practise the spellings for their year group and to revisit the spellings from Year 2 to ensure they are known and understood. Although in Year 3 were focus on a selection of words from the LKS2 National Curriculum expectations, the children are also encouraged to look at and begin to learn all the spellings for Year 4.

Times Tables

In Year 2, children were encouraged to learn their x2, x5 and x10 tables. In Year 3, this continues and now includes x3, x4 and x8. For those children who are able, learning the other times tables are also encouraged in this order - x6, x9, x7, 11 and x12. The children are tested on their times tables every week using the Cracking Times Tables method. There is more information about this method below.

If you wish to see the question sheet for each level or use them to practise at home, each level is listed below.
