Curriculum.
Our English texts this term have an author focus. Our author this term is Jeanne Willis and we are looking at the texts: The Bog Baby, Tadpole's Promise and Chicken Clicking. Using these texts we will be learning about expanded noun phrases, how verbs change tense, exclamation marks, apostrophes for contraction and conjunctions. They will be completing writing in the form of character and setting descriptions, letters, diary entries and retellings of the stories.
In Maths, we are beginning to look at multiplication and learning our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. After this we will move on to measurement by looking at length, height and how this is measured.
In RE, we will be looking at the religion of Islam and the 99 names for Allah. In Art, we are studying the artists David Hockney and Lucian Freud, using their influence to create our own self portraits. In Geography, we will be comparing towns and villages, looking at how local landmarks differ both in types and quantity. Lastly, in Science we will be looking at materials and their properties, how we choose a relevant material for a specific job and conducting experiments to test our scientific enquiries.
